A sensation was caused in town on Monday night, when the alarm was given that the 12-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. Ryan, of Mullenderree, was missing. The child had been sent to school that afternoon, but instead of going she had got a lift in a car and gone to her uncle’s (Mr. R. Beashel) home at Bergalia, and it was there that the police and a party in Mr. H. Duncan’s car, found her in bed, after having searched the town and suburbs for hours. This is the second occasion on which Moruya has been given a false alarm of a “missing” child.
Mr. H. Lavis has added a Hercules log sawing machine to his wood-supplying plant. With his new purchase in one afternoon last week, Mr. Lavis, from one log, 3ft thick, cut 40 one-foot lengths, from which he split and delivered three motor truck loads of stove wood.

Building activities are proceeding apace here, so with new structures and renovations the old town is becoming brought right up to date. To the order of Mrs. P. Flynn, Contractor A. Williams is erecting a lock-up shop (which will be occupied by a tailor) next door to Mr. J Buckley’s hairdressing saloon. When Mr. Preddy completes the new front to Mr. A. F. Emmott’s terrace of shops in the Prince’s Highway the appearance of these premises should be equal to anything outside the city. Mr. Mordaunt has completed the foundation work of Mr. J. D. Ward’s large skin and produce store in Campbell Street, and is well on the way with construction.
One of the prettiest weddings ever seen here, and one that created much interest, was celebrated in St. John’s Church on Saturday afternoon last, when Miss Leila Olive, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Luck, of “The Pines,” Yarragee, was married to Mr. A. Campbell, of Clarence Town. The bride wore an exquisite gown of ivory georgette, hand-worked in pearls, and silver lace.
