Moruya Surf Club has set up a training program which will qualify all members of Moruya Apex Club for a Resuscitation Certificate. The programme will be run over several weeks with the first group commencing this week.

The small township of Dalmeny is another town to take the initiative and form its own book lending establishment. The Dalmeny Civic Association officially opened its own Book Club on Saturday, the books for which are situated at the home of Mrs Cicely Wightman, of Jocelyn Street. The opening ceremony was performed by the Association’s President, Sir Samuel Jones, who stated that there were already more than a thousand books in the library. Between 60 and 70 enthusiastic residents attended the notable event.
Ed. Sez… Once again the problem of straying stock is rearing its head. Only last weekend, four vehicles were involved in a collision which resulted from one vehicle hitting a cow which was on the road, just north of Moruya. At the weekend I saw another dead cow beside the road near Bodalla. And to top it off, last week, when driving to Bega to have the paper printed, I countered no less than 13 cows beside, and on the road, in different places. I mentioned in a previous issue that the time had come to invest in a truck and a freezer; I’m even more convinced now.
Despite being several weeks behind schedule the Kiora Bridge construction is expected to be completed by Easter 1977, according to contractor Mr Noel McIntosh. He said the 1.3 metre tide change made it impossible for the five-man crew to work during some parts of the day. The working bridge platform has been in use for months and all the piles have been driven. The solid piers are constructed from three pre-made concrete cavity segments which are individually fille with re-inforced concrete. The Eastern bank abutment will be built last.
Misses Maureen Mehl and Jennie Smith left by plane over the weekend for Fiji, from where they will be taking several small cruises around the islands. Jennie is doing secretarial work at G. J. Coles in Sydney and Maureen is nursing at Moruya Hospital.
