The work of re-erecting the crane, which was accidentally destroyed by fire last week at the Breakwater Quarry, has commenced. It is expected that Foreman D. Skehan will shortly be able to resume operations of building the spur and effecting repairs to the main wall.
The Commissioner of Taxation is calling upon all concerned to furnish particulars of their incomes received during the year ended 30th June, 1926. Persons in receipt of income from salary or wages only need furnish returns if such totalled £300 or more during the year mentioned.
The Postal Department has arranged for a Post Office to be opened at Granite Town which will be officially designated the Moruya Quarry Post Office. Dormon Long’s popular clerk-in-chief, Mr. Stanton Lizieri, has been appointed officer in charge.

Her sister, Mrs. Mulroy, having converted her cottage, in a Sydney suburb, into a private hospital, Miss Alice, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bown, of Bergalia, has decided to take up the nursing profession, and will go into training with Mrs. Mulroy in a few months.
Complaints are rife that no provision has been made at the wharf for the yarding of stock while awaiting shipment. Farmers have come from as far away as Eurobodalla – a distance of 20 miles – with pigs, but if the steamer is not in to schedule time, they have to return with their consignments and make another journey the next day. Through persistent agitation by the shippers, the river’s channel has been cleared so that the steamer is now able to reach the town wharf, so surely those whose duty it is should provide accommodation for waiting stock.
Dentist Firth has sub-let his upstairs rooms to Mr. F. Jackson, who, with his wife and little girl, arrived from Sydney on Wednesday. Mr. Jackson is opening a garage next door to the Amusu Theatre.
An egg day was held at Bateman’s Bay Public School last week in aid of the Moruya Hospital. Nine dozen eggs were handed to the Matron.
Forged £5 notes are in circulation and the Commonwealth Bank warns the public to be on its guard. As it is so long since we saw a note of such value, we doubt whether we could detect the genuineness or not of same.
