
The Presbyterian Ladies’ Guild gave Mrs. Herd a very enjoyable afternoon on Thursday last at “Glenlea Villa,” [18 Page St.] the residence of Mrs. A. Davidson and Mrs. W. Morrison, where she was entertained at tea. On behalf of the Guild, Mrs. Eddy presented her with a chubby umbrella and a handsome table ornament, as a small token of their esteem and love. On behalf of her friends at Granitetown, Mrs. W. Jaffre gave her a nice handbag. The afternoon was brought to a close by singing a favourite hymn of Mrs. Herd, and “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.”
Many people are under the impression that the open season for opossum applies in N.S.W., but that is an erroneous idea, it is only in Victoria where the shooting of the opossum, which have increased in vast numbers, is allowed. The open season for scrub and swamp wallaby applies to the state south of the Clyde River, but the price for these skins is so low that they are not worth sending to market.

The energetic Mr. A. L. Jeffery has been “suffering” an enforced rest through the handle of an engine flying off and injuring his knee.
What has been an unusual sight for many years was witnessed here on Tuesday, when a mob of 560 head of mixed cattle passed through town. They had been purchased by Mr. Grigg, of Braidwood, and were on their way to Goulburn market in charge of Mr. C. Keating. The mob included stock from Cobargo upwards, amongst them being a number from Mr. M. Keating’s Bergalia paddocks.
A pretty wedding was celebrated at the Methodist Church, Mogo, on the 21st April. The contracting parties were Queenie Francie, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Stephens, and Ormond Sydney, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Veitch.
