Book Launch – Bergalia, Meringo & Bingie – Sat 5 Aug

Shirley Jurmann, Author

You’re invited to attend the launch event of our newest publication, titled “Bergalia, Meringo, Bingie,” as part of the Family History Month celebrations. Join author Shirley Jurmann as she discusses this latest addition to her series published by the Society.

This book delves into the rich history of farming communities around the village of Bergalia, and is adorned with captivating images generously provided by descendants of local families, some of whom continue their farming legacy in the area.

Shirley Jurmann is herself a descendant of the Louttit family who opened the first granite mine in Moruya, and have played an important role in the district. Her books are imaginative, thoughtful and well-researched – often told through the eyes of people, and sometimes even buildings! She was the recipient of the 2021 Fergus Thomson OAM Heritage Award.

Following the book launch, there will be the Annual General Meeting of the Moruya and District Historical Society at 2 pm.

We extend a warm welcome to all attendees to participate in this gathering. It’s a perfect opportunity to engage with like-minded individuals and be part of preserving our fascinating local history.

Shirley is my mother’s first cousin. I would love to hear her speak but I live in Adelaide and have health issues that prevent me travelling at the moment. Would it be possible to attend by something like Zoom? Kind regards, Sandra Jacobson
