EVENT: WHEN WAR CAME TO MORUYA

Gary Traynor is hosting the following event on Monday 19 July 2021 – the exact date of the 105th anniversary of the death of Raymond Bishop and David Anderson – both local boys.

Event:       WHEN WAR CAME TO MORUYA
Location:  World War 2 concrete Bunker, Thelmore Pistol Club.
Time:        6.15 for 6.30 pm start
Duration:  1 hour 30 minutes.

This presentation is the very first in our HISTORY IN A BUNKER series of military history based talks.  The aim of such presentations is to bring attention to the service of our local people during times of war.

The BATTLE OF FROMELLES which took place on 19/20 July 1916 was the most disastrous 24 hour period in Australian history.  Raymond BISHOP from Moruya (his mother resided in Tilba) and David ANDERSON frm Bergalia were just two of over 5000 casualties who suffered during this horrendous period.

Join us at THE BUNKER as we commemorate the 105 anniversary of the Battle of Fromelles.

Seats are limited so bookings are essential.  Whilst attendance is FREE (sadly, the price has already been paid in the blood of our young Ausralians) we ask that perhaps attendees make a gold coin donation – the proceeds of which will cover the utilities of our kind sponsor The Thelmore pistol Club.
