Women’s hat. Black straw, flat crown with very wide, flat, stiff gauze molded brim. Wire mold the hat and keeps the brim in shape, two wire claws on the side also help to keep the hat in place on the head. Hat decorated on top left with 1 black/brown organdie rose and 1 pink organdie rose with leaves attached. Pearl hat pin attached and would be needed to also help keep hat in place as it is very shallow with wide brim. No label, black silk lining in crown.

016/008 Women’s hat. Black felt with medium high crown and wide brim. Brim is wider at the front than the back and has 4 rows of stitching to make it stiff, turned up and edged with black grosgrain ribbon. The hat band is black satin and black velvet ruched together at front and attached with black felt strip with a small felt bow on right hand side. There is no label but there is a wide black satin ribbon underneath attached to black hat elastic ties on each side. A large velvet bow hangs under hat on the ribbon to the left hand side.

016/022 Women’s hat. Royal blue felted toque with molded crown and draped look molded brim wider at the front. Blue felt knotted bow edged with small white beads decorates the left centre of the brim at the front. Label reads “Irene Wiener Original Model” . No lining just black grosgrain lining trim.

016/004 Men’s ornate smoking hat. Obviously made as a costume as it has a cardboard base. Black cotton covered with embroidered flowers berries and leaves in yellow, red, green and brown. On top of crown is an ornate covered button that attaches a yellow and claret coloured silk tassle that hangs down the hat below the crown.
