Moruya Stories is a curated exhibition. Using items from the collection and oral histories it brings to light the fascinating characters and places that have made Moruya a unique community. The exhibition traces the history of Moruya through the people and businesses that have shaped the community over time such as Mylott’s Bakery, Emmott’s store, and Dr Boot. Telling stories about objects like Jean Gilmore’s snake vertebrae necklace, the pretty brooch made from fish scales and the long gone Holiday Haven gives us a sense of what makes our town special.
The exhibition includes an 1887 map of Moruya, which arrived unannounced on the Museum’s doorstep. The restoration of the map for this exhibition is a story unto itself – read more
