Vandals have already damaged the town clock erected at Narooma recently by the Sub-branch of the R.S.L. at a cost of nearly $5000. Only three of the four faces were working due to the vandalism. A reward of $500 will be offered for information leading to the conviction of anyone for damaging the Narooma clock.

The most successful year yet was reported at the ninth annual meeting of the Moruya pre-school Kindergarten on Thursday night. Director Mrs Irene Thorpe thanked committee members for their support. Sandra Turnbull, who has been on the committee for six years, said she would not stand for re-election to what would have been her third year as president. The election of officers resulted: President – Sue Weeks, Vice-president – Carol Riggal, Secretary – Dawn Head, Treasurer – Mrs I. Thorpe, Committee – Josie Jones, Robyn Shulkins, Margaret Lyn Jones and Shirley Greig.

A computer with a 2.8-million word memory bank has been installed in a Moruya office. It’s a Hewlett-Packard unit which has gone into use with Southern Computer Co., formerly of, but now completely separate from, the accountancy firm of L. C. H. Gleeson. The firm’s manager Rohan Gleeson, says the new machine was made necessary by the growth of the business of his firm, which operates between Nowra and Eden. As an example of the machine’s capacity, Mr Gleeson says it could easily handle all the rating work of Eurobodalla Council, with plenty to spare.

Narooma Rugby League Club did a most successful job of catering for the Mini ‘Narooma Booma Car Rally.’ There were 56 cars entered from all parts of the coast, Central and South, and with the cars and drivers in racing trim it could well have been a Paris Grand Prix on the Riviera. Most of the drivers and spectators made full use of the “Devil’s Kitchen,” where footballers dispensed steak sandwiches, coffee, soup, hot dogs etc. Business was brisk well into the early hours of the morning.

Moruya squash games conducted in the men’s competition last week resulted: Dopes v. Jokers – B. Gordon d. J. Riggal 3-0; R. McLennan d. B. Power 3-0; T. Davis d. L. Franks 3-1; P. Micalos lost to C. Horne 0-3. Animals v. Boasts – P. Atkinson lost to L. Fletcher 1-3; J. Nader lost to B. Weeks 1-3; D. Dawson d. J. Barmman 3-2; R. Norman lost to M. Lavis 0-3.
