In recognition of having participated in the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley in 1924, Mr. A. Louttit, of Mullenderree, has received a handsome bronze medal in a leather case and a certificate of honor; also a letter from the Executive Secretary, on behalf of the British Empire Executive authorities, conveying the commissioner’s cordial thanks for Mr. Louttit’s valued co-operation in sending a sample of his excellent maize.

Mr. E. Mather, of Nerrigundah, has been appointed the Liquidator to conduct the winding up of the Cadgee Co-operative Butter Co. Ltd.

Nickola Tesla, the electrician and inventor, predicts that the world’s internal heat will be tapped for use as industrial power, the power being transmitted by wireless.

Councillor H. J. Bate wrote us to the effect that he had interviewed the Engineer concerned, and he promised that he will make arrangements for the dredge Neptune to return to Moruya as soon as possible. This is the first boon Mr. Bate has conferred upon the district after taking his seat in Parliament as our representative.

Suffering from diphtheria three children from one family at Bateman’s Bay were brought in during the week, and admitted to the local hospital.

It is frequent practice for motorists on entering a town to ascertain its name. The Royal Automobile Club of Australia suggests to the Shire and Municipal authorities the placing of name-boards at the main entrances. Such a procedure would serve a double purpose – supply valuable information to tourists and at the same time act as a publicity medium for the town. Finger posts should also be erected at all the principal turnoffs, particularly at the corner of Vulcan and Campbell Sts., and Page and Campbell Sts.

Mr. Allan Southam, of Tilba, was the successful tenderer for the erection of a low beam timber bridge over Tuross River near Silo Hill, Bodalla, tenders for which were recently called by the Eurobodalla Shire Council.

Congratulations to Mr. George Turner, of the Burra, upon his marriage with Miss Molly Deane, youngest daughter of Mr. J. Deane, of Moruya, in Sydney on the 4th inst.

At the monthly meeting of the Moruya District Hospital Committee correspondence was received: – From the Department of Health re treatment of refractory patients in the hospital, intimating that any such patients admitted at the insistence of police, and the latter have instructions to render assistance to the hospital authorities where necessary. The visiting Committee reported having visited on 20th inst. Matron Constable is still away on sick leave, Nurse Wiseman relieving her. The work authorized on the isolation ward has not yet been carried out owing to Mr. Stubbs’ illness. All the firewood supplied by Mr. Jeffery has been sawn into small lengths.
