Christmas tourist traffic along the South Coast has broken all previous records. The increasing number of visitors who flock to our various beaches prove that the jaded city dweller delights to seek the open spaces of country seaside. The Christmas season brings the motorists along in their hundreds. The Prince’s Highway has been a constantly moving stream of traffic to and from our picnic resorts. The picturesque Tuross, with this years added attractions of golf and tennis, has drawn hundreds to its charm.

We regret to report that Constable Mair, of Nerrigundah, received painful injuries through being thrown from his horse which bucked when being mounted. It will be many weeks before the Gulph’s popular officer will be able to resume his duties.

Mr. Perkins – in the Assembly: I desire to ask if the Minister for public Works is aware that, owing to increased traffic, the punt services at Bateman’s Bay, Narooma, and Nelligen are now inadequate? Will the Minister make inquiries, with a view to installing larger and more up-to-date punts at these places, or better still, erecting bridges at one or more of the places mentioned, as at present travellers are greatly inconvenienced? Mr. Flannery: I will make inquiries.

No less than 327 cars passed a given point three miles south of Moruya on Boxing Day.

Travelling from Melbourne to Sydney the Hon. W. H. Hughes [Billy Hughes, ALP Prime Minister 1915-1916] with his wife and little daughter, remained the night at the Hotel Moruya on Tuesday.

A troop of Boy Scouts and Cubs has been formed at Bateman’s Bay. Mr. C. Carter was recommended for Scoutmaster, Mr. E. S. N. Olsson assistant, Mr. A. Spooner scout master, and Mr. A. Barclay assistant. The troop expects to start operations shortly.

A very pretty wedding was celebrated at the R. C. Church, Bodalla, on Tuesday, 23rd December at 6 p.m. when Edna Mary, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. Taylor, of “Rewlee,” Eurobodalla, was married to Charles Roy, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Byrne, of “Waincourt,” Eurobodalla. The Rev. Father McCormack performed the ceremony. The bride was attended by her sister Nella. The bride’s gift to the bridegroom was a gold-mounted and initialed fountain pen. The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a gold wristlet watch. Mr. Arthur Byrne was in attendance as best man. After the ceremony the party proceeded to “Rewlee” for the wedding feast. Later in the evening the bride and bridegroom left for Narooma amid cheers and showers of confetti, the bride travelling in a two tone frock of rich saxe blue silk mixture, Oriental hat to match.
