Messrs. Rupert and Mark Whelan were successful in obtaining their cheese making certificates at Bega dairy science school. The young men belong to the Whelan family, for so long associated with Bodalla, and it was in the Estate that they first saw curd.

Mr. T. Cooper, who believes in keeping his properties in a good state of repair, and thus enhance the appearance of the town, is having our premises and offices thoroughly renovated. Messrs. Stewart and Coppin have the contract for the plaster work, and Messrs. Neeham and Martin the painting.

While on his way home from the Kiora-Araluen road Works on Saturday, Mr. Rowe, of Dwyer’s Creek, had the misfortune to break his right wrist through a fall from his bike.

At a well attended meeting held on the old cricket ground at Dwyer’s Creek last week it was decided to re-form the cricket club. Messrs. J. Little, C. Arnett and E. Jeffery were selected as a working committee to get the pitch in playing order. The subscription fee for members was fixed at five shillings. Mr. L. R. Foreman was elected secretary and treasurer. It is hoped that before long the club will be ready to compete with the neighbouring sports.

At the local Police Court, a Sydney motorist was fined £2 and costs for dangerous driving around Jeffery’s corner on Bodalla road. A drover was fined for travelling a short distance without a travelling statement signed by the owner of the stock. This should be a warning to those who drive other people’s stock about without complying with the law.

The Narani

During the week the local agent, Mr. G. Constable, received a telegram from the I.S.N. Company that as Captain Jackson, of the Narani, had reported the river was shoaling it would be too risky for the steamer to berth at the shutes, therefore she would have to unload at Preddy’s wharf for the time being.
