TO-DAYS ELECTIONS. 26,000 officials at 9,100 different booths will be employed to conduct the elections with a cost to the Commonwealth a little short £100,000 The polling booth at the Court House will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for the Federal Elections.
On Friday of last week, Mrs. J. Buckley, Senr., of Mullenderree, met will a serious and very painful accident. She had been sitting on the verandah at her home and got up to go inside when she took a giddiness and fell. Her screams attracted the attention of her son who rushed to her assistance, but owing to the extreme agony that she was in, he could not move her. Dr. Quilter, who was hastily summoned, found that the unfortunate lady had dislocated and badly fractured her hip. Before she could be removed to her room an anesthetic had to be administered. Drs. Quilter and McCredie then set the injured limb, Mrs. G. Bishop being engaged to attend to the patient.
Mrs Carden is having further improvements effected on her Hotel Moruya premises. Mr. Preddy is engaged in demolishing the large stables and other outbuildings and erecting up-to-date garages, etc.
In recording the loss, through death, of several old and respected members of the Association, Secretary T. M. Shakespeare in his annual report at the recent Press Conference said: “Another face that will be very much missed from Conference this year is that of the late R. H. Harvison, Moruya, whose robust advice and assistance has always been appreciated by the Executive. For over 50 years he conducted the Moruya “Examiner,” taking an active part in everything pertaining to the advancement of his district. His Press interests have devolved on his daughter, Mrs. A. W. Constable.”
It was found on his return home after the motor accident at Narooma, that Cr. A. Sutherland had two ribs broken.

A wedding of unusual interest was celebrated at the Catholic Church, Bateman’s Bay, on Wednesday, when Mr. Arch Barclay, youngest son of Mrs. J. Barkclay, of Bateman’s Bay, was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Ethel Lipscombe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lipscombe, of Potato Point, Bodalla. The bride was attended by Miss Kitty Connors, of Bodalla, Miss Lipscombe and Miss Merle Ryan. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. Lipscombe, jnr. The wedding breakfast was held in the School of Arts where Mesdames Lipscombe and Barclay received the many guests. The presents were numerous and costly, including many cheques. Mr. and Mrs. Barclay left by car for their honeymoon which will be spent in Sydney and Newcastle. A dance was held in the evening and kept going merrily till the wee small hour of the morning. The young folk of Bateman’s Bay will remember this day with pleasure.
