Action is now being taken against motorists whose cars do not bear the regulation number-plate – white lettering on a black background.

Already many cars have passed through Moruya en route to Melbourne for Cup Week. It is anticipated that the number of visitors to Melbourne will be greater than any previous year.

We regret to report that Mr. Charlie Luck, of Myrtle Bank, Yarragee, met with a painful accident. Whilst occupied on a dam, the plank, over which he was crossing broke, and Charlie was thrown heavily to the bottom. After an examination of the victim, Dr. McCreadie found that the shoulder was dislocated. The patient is now progressing satisfactorily.

On Wednesday last at St. John’s Church, Moruya, a pretty wedding was celebrated, when Daisy, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bartlett, of Bimbimbie was married to Mr. Roy Hart, the Rev. Mr. Johnson officiating.

The spoke factory is again in full swing in Bateman’s Bay, cutting supports for telegraph insulators.

A very pretty wedding was celebrated by the Rev. Fr. McCormack in the Sacred Heart Church, Moruya on the 29th ult. The contracting parties were Mr. James Felicia, fourth son of the late Patrick and Mrs. Honan, of Moruya, and Magdeline Veronica, youngest daughter of the late Mr. Michael and Mrs. Donovan, of Moruya. The wedding reception was held at Gundary, at the residence of the bride’s mother, where about 50 guests were present. The beautiful three decker wedding cake was made by Mr. P. J. Mylott.

Miss Mary Gilmore, daughter of Mr. J. A. Gilmore, Manager of Dorman Long’s Quarry, arrived here on Tuesday night. It is Miss Gilmore’s intention to go into business.

Nerrigundah. (From our Correspondent.) Mr. G. Thomas is opening up a new reef at Belimbla. It is a felsite lode about four feet wide. The stone prospects well for a good length along the line. It is situated about a mile south of the Company’s lease. There are about 50 tons stacked ready for carting to the battery. Latty, Thomas, and Sutherland have just cleaned up a crushing of 6 tons from Belimbla for a yield of 3 ozs per ton.

The Centennial Hall was the venue for the Annual Ball held on Tuesday night in aid of the local Convent. The ball was indeed a pronounced success, and the popularity, thoroughness, and tone of the function reflects the highest credit on the gracious young Secretaries, Misses D. Tessier and V. Corrigan, and on the members of the committee. Visitors were present from all parts of the district, no less than a lorry and three car loads coming from Bateman’s Bay.
