There were no less than eight tenders in for the lease of the 2-acre cultivation paddock in Church St. [Moruya], the property of the Presbyterian Church Trustees. Mr. Jack Louttit was the successful tenderer at £17 5s per annum.
On Saturday last week Scoutmaster Fowler had the troop at work digging out the weeds and cleaning around the tree guards in our streets, thus demonstrating in a practical way the interest that should be taken by them as future citizens in beautifying the town in which they live.


At the Bateman’s Bay Parents and Citizens’ Assn. meeting, President Mr. A. H. Annetts reported that the dual desks had now been placed throughout the school, and the heater for the infant’s room had arrived. It was decided to purchase a typewriter for the school.
Very deep regret was felt by the many friends of the McCauley and Veitch families of Nelligen, when it became known on Wednesday that Mr. Harry McCauley had died at the Moruya Hospital at the early age of 27 years. Deceased took ill only on Thursday of last week. He was admitted to hospital on Friday and the following day was operated on by Drs Quilter and McCredie for appendicitis. On Monday great hopes were held for his recovery, but acute peritonitis supervened his untimely end. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. R. McCauley, of Nelligen, and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Veitch, of Currowan Creek, and sympathy is extended to the afflicted young wife and two children.
Mr. A. H. Preddey commences the erection of a large hostel consisting of 50 rooms at Tuross next week. Mr. McWilliam expects to have fully 500 tourists at this popular resort at Xmas time.
The death of a highly respected Mogo resident, Mr. George Veitch aged 57, occurred last Wednesday. Deceased, who was a sawmill proprietor at Mogo, had been in different health for some time, and as more serious complications intervened, he was taken to Kogarah Hospital where he underwent an operation about three weeks ago. Besides a widow and grown-up family of five daughters and one son, he is survived by two brothers, Messrs. James (Mogo) and Albert (Currowan Creek) and two sisters Mesdames E. Ladmore (Bateman’s Bay) and Ball (Epping).
At the Moruya Hospital monthly meeting members were told that the Visiting Committee reported matters in a satisfactory condition; building needs attention; white ants active in the front portion; wire gauze around roof of isolation ward decayed; tubs require repairs; wood getting low, recommended fresh supply. Mr. Stubbs is to be engaged to effect necessary repairs. Tenders are to be called to supply 12 cords of wood.
