The Moruya Co-op. Dairy Co. is in receipt of £5 for 1st prize awarded to the Company for matured cheese at the recent Sydney Show.

Mrs. G. Bishop has met with such encouragement in organizing her classes for teaching eurythmics, latest dancing, etc., that she has decided to commence lessons for same in the Mechanic’s Hall this (Saturday) afternoon at 2 o’clock.

The following team of Moruya second grade footballers will play Bateman’s Bay on the latter’s ground tomorrow: – C. Chesher, Lance Walker, J. Chesher, Roy Coppin, Leo Pike, H. Thomson, H. Crapp, W. Constable, A. Coppin, R. Rose, D. Coppin.

At the Police Court on Wednesday before Mr. J. B. Scobie, relieving P.M., 8 local residents were fined 5s per beast and costs, and some of them extra 5s for a second offence for suffering cattle to stray. The Magistrate said that 5s per beast would be the minimum penalty as previous warnings had been disregarded.

Eurobodalla Shire Council. – At the monthly meeting on the 6th inst., President T. Flood drew the attention of the Council to the death of Ex-Councillor Richard M. Bate, one of the original Councillors of the Eurobodalla Council. The Councillors and officers rose and stood in silence, as a mark of respect to their late fellow Councillor. …

Correspondence. – From Police Dept., Traffic Branch, re speed limit notices. The Clerk was instructed to notify the Dept. that notices are ready for erection; From Mrs. Cardin, re asphalting footpath in front of the Hotel Moruya. It was resolved to carry out the work. The Engineer was instructed to prepare an estimate of the cost of asphalting other properties in the town; From I.S.N. Co., re application for S. L. for wharf at Moruya. Decided to inform the Company that the Council would be only too pleased to support their application; From E. A. R. Shepherd, asking approval of sub-divisions, Preddy to Gilmore and Preddy to Thomas. Approval granted; On the recommendations of Engineer Dawson, it was decided to repair Dwyer’s Creek culvert as early as possible.

Lost – LADY’S BLACK HANDBAG, on 20th APRIL, between Flynn’s Shop and Gundary via Old Showground. Finder rewarded on returning to Emmott’s Store, Moruya.

Moruya Cemetery. WORKING BEE. Saturday, 23rd May, commencing at 1.30 p.m. for the purpose of clearing up the scrub, chipping the paths, and generally tidying the last resting place of our relatives and friends; All denominations are invited to attend and assist, for which purpose the men are requested to bring axes, mattocks, spades, etc., and the ladies requested to provide and serve afternoon tea.
