What might have resulted in a very serious accident befell Mrs. W. Lyons, of Mt. Oldrey, on Tuesday. The lady was going from town when a swarm of bees settled on the horse she was driving. Just as Mrs. Lyons jumped out of the sulky, the horse, maddened with pain and terror, bolted. The sulky was considerably damaged and the horse much cut about, but through her presence of mind Mrs. Lyons escaped injury.

It has been definitely announced by cable that Henry Ford will establish big assembling works in all States of Australia for the building of his motor cars.
Messrs. R. and P. Motbey and party have succeeded in obtaining Govt. aid for the sinking of a shaft 80ft. on their reef at Mount Utopia. The aid is at the rate of 15s per foot for the first 25ft., and 25s for the last 30ft. Messrs. W. and J. Motbey are also applying for aid to sink further on their reef at Mount Utopia, from which a satisfactory first crushing has been taken.
A very sad and sudden death took place on Sunday when Mrs. Richard Beashel passed away at her residence at Bergalia. Although she had been in indifferent health for some months her sudden demise came as a shock to her relatives and friends throughout the district. Deceased, who was only 48 years of age, was a Miss Cahill, and at one time assisted her brother in the management of a general storekeeping business at Bega. A widower and four young children are left to mourn the loss of a devoted wife and mother. …
It is with very deep regret that we are called upon to chronicle the death of Mr. John Bartlett, of Kiora, one of the district’s most esteemed residents, at the age of 62 years. … Besides a wife and grown up family of six girls, he is survived by an aged mother, three brothers – Messrs. Ben (The Shannon, Lismore), Frank (Kiora), Theo. (Lismore), and five sisters, Mesdames J. Wilson (Bondi), W. Phillips (Five Dock), H. W. Luck (Yarragee), P. Davidson (Bondi) and R. B. Pollock (Epping), for whom deepest sympathy is expressed.
