GUNDARY & YARRAGEE

If you want to find out what Mrs Jean Hogg from Garlandtown was doing hanging in a tree at Yarragee one pleasant afternoon in 1964 or what weed not to let in your pasture if you have milking cows and don’t want the milk tainted or perhaps how was “The Swamp” turned into Gundary oval then you will need to buy this book.

The book covers the area to the west of the Moruya town centre known to the locals as “Gundary” and the agricultural area to the west of Gundary on the river bends “Yarragee”.

It records the development of the land from the first squatter to current day subdivision and developments. The many businesses set up in the area are dealt with in detail as are the lives of the people who lived there.

The book is 138 pages with numerous photographs of the area and the people. A detailed index is provided along with Appendices covering the Eurobodalla Shire Electoral Rolls of 1914 and extracts from the 1901 Census Collector’s books for the area.
