The Moruya Dairy Company received £400 insurance on the cheese and crates wrecked on the s.s. Bodalla and £380 on that wrecked on the s.s. Benandra.

Our movie picture lovers are advised not to miss seeing “The Love Gambler” featuring John Gilbert, and “The Girl of My Heart” featuring P. Hyland, on Wednesday night next. These two special Fox pictures are said to be the most thrilling ever presented by Mr. Preddey at his Amusu Theatre.

Mr. J. A. Perkins, M.L.A., has been notified by the Dept. of Local Government that the sum of £1,250 has been made available from the State Main Roads Loan Vote, to the Eurobodalla Shire Council for the construction of a low level bridge across the Tuross River at Silo Hill Farm near Bodalla.

The Shire Council has commenced the work of re-forming the road near the Moruya Park on the Prince’s Highway. Instead of breaking up the surface with picks, the road was ploughed from end to end, the operation being successfully carried out with the Shire’s large plough and Messrs. W. Crapp’s and J. Gibbon’s team of fine draught horses. The ground was afterwards rolled. The metal and binding are now being brought in by the Shire’s gang of men.

Dredge Antleon at Quarry Wharf

The dredge Antleon left on Wednesday for Narooma, where she is expected to remain for three weeks. Although good work has been done in the Moruya River and at the crossing, the services of the dredge are required for many weeks yet to complete the work commenced, and we hope that now the vessel is in this vicinity the Shire and Progress Association will use their best endeavors to keep her in these parts for some time longer.

The engagement is announced of Ethel Margaret, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Millikin, of Moruya, and Edward James, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. McFarlane, of Mascot, Sydney.

The first general meeting of the Belimbla Creek Gold Mines No Liability, was held on the 16th instant and was largely attended. This Company was formed four months ago for the purpose of working promising reef indications near Nerrigundah, which in the past has been a prolific gold-producing centre.

The Chairman, Mr. C. Napier, stated that splendid progress had been made in opening up the property. Half the ten-head battery was already there and it was expected that crushing operations should commence in October. The tunnel was being driven from the battery site to the main lode so that the huge gold-bearing formation could be attacked by a large number of men. Mining experts were sanguine that the property would prove a good payable proposition to the shareholders. …
