The Presbyterian congregation at Bateman’s Bay have resolved to petition the Trustees for leave to sell the old church.
The largest quantity of saccaline seed that we have ever seen on one farm is stacked in a barn on Messrs. Luck Bros.’ “Myrtle Bank” Estate at Yarragee. It is estimated that when threshed the heads will yield about 400 bags of seed.
The contractors, Messrs. Stewart and Coppin, who are building for Mr. Weatherby, at the old Post Office corner, have unearthed some rare coins, mostly copper, and upwards of a hundred years old. One of the coins found was a 25 centime.
A gang of men are at present busy quarrying a large quantity of stone at the Shire Council’s Yarragee quarry. It is expected that the stone will be ready for the crusher in a fortnight, when the much needed work on the Park Flat road will be commenced.
Bateman’s Bay. (From our Correspondents.) The second round of the district football competition was played on Saturday, when a team from Narooma played the local thirteen on the Bay ground. … Although Narooma put up a great defence, scores began to mount up for the Bay, and they ultimately won by 21 to nil. Mr. Olsson acted as referee, and Messrs. Wright and Thomsen touch judges. The Narooma footballers were entertained at tea at Linkenbagh’s Clyde Hotel on Saturday evening by the local boys.
Quite a building-boom has been going on in the Bay of late. Mrs. Fenning has had a new shop built. Mr. A. Annetts is having a cottage built on the Moruya Road hill, and additions have been made to their homes by Mr. S. Ison and Mrs. M. Ryan. Mr. Dunne is also building a cottage on the Beach Road.

Mr. Miller, the new licensee, has practically finished refurbishing the Bayview Hotel, and now has one of the best appointed hotel’s on the coast. He expects shortly to make alterations to the ground floor of the building, making it more convenient for patrons.
The spoke factory has been closed down for the week pending stocktaking and the change over for the new boiler. They expect to re-open over the course of a few days.
ANSWER THE CALL AND BEAUTIFY OUR TOWN – Moruya Progress Association is asking for 24 volunteers, each to plant a tree and erect a guard (the material for which will be found ready on the ground) in Campbell and Page Streets. … The Shire Council is also materially assisting by voting £7 towards the cost of guards, etc. Was it not Burns who said, “Be always planting trees, they will aye be growin’ while yere sleepin’”?
