Stated that Mr. Hales, who was surveying different rivers and obtaining data in connection with the several hydro-electric schemes proposed on Monaro and Far South Coast, has a distinctive preference for the Tuross River. He considers it superior to the Snowy River.

Mr. J. A. Perkins, M.L.A., is in receipt of the following from the Chief Secretary’s Dept. :-“In continuation of my letter of 20th December last concerning the application made by Mr. R. G. Duncan, of Eurobodalla, and others, for the removal of protection for wallabies for certain parishes in the surrounding districts, I now desire to intimate that an open season from 1st March to 31st July, 1924, both days inclusive, has been declared in respect of swamp wallabies and scrub wallabies for the parishes of Nerrigundah, Cadgee, Urobodalla, Bodalla, Narooma, Gulph and Bumbo, in the County of Dampier, within the Pastures Protection District of Braidwood-Broulee. The requisite notification will be published in the Government Gazette of 20th inst.”

The Progress Association has paid for the installation of the electric light at the Court House Corner, and has a few pounds still in hand.

Four hotels in Moruya have been cited to appear on 26th inst. to show cause why their licenses should not be cancelled, viz.- The Royal, Club House, Commercial and Criterion.

A meeting of the Convent Building Committee took place at the Convent school-room on 9th inst. Present – Father MacCormack (chair), Messrs. T. Flood, S. Ryan, R. B. Heffernan, P. Ryan, C. Johnson, P. Flynn, P. Connors, P. Mylott, P. Poole, A. W. Constable and Sec. C. Carter. The Committee considered the tenders for the erection of a new Convent too high and decided not to accept any, the lowest being about £5000 and the highest about £8000. A sub-committee was appointed to go into details of the plans and specifications and to suggest alterations.

A meeting of the Progress Association took place in the Shire Hall on Tuesday night last. … An account from Mr. Godfrey Hanscom for £10 5s for fitting, etc., for electric light was passed for payment; The Secretary was instructed to use his best efforts to help the Shire Council to try and get the necessary information re the property at the Heads in order to get the necessary permission to have a road put through; The matters of having the sign at the bridge painted, and having the trough at the windmill fixed up was left to Mr. Flood to do his best to have these matters attended to; The offer of Mr. Flood of £9 towards the cost of renovating weather and bathing sheds at the Heads was accepted.
