Bergalia, Meringo & Bingie – New Book by Shirley Jurmann

This new book by Shirley Jurmann delves into the rich history of farming communities around the village of Bergalia, and is adorned with captivating images generously provided by descendants of local families, some of whom continue their farming legacy in the area.

Bergalia is the area south of Moruya along the Princes Highway, before you get to the Tuross turnoff. Meringo and Bingie are east of Bergalia along the coast. Bergalia was the centre of the district and was once a small village with its own school, post office, stores and a cheese factory. Each of the properties in the district is described and illustrated with photos of the original buildings and the families who lived there. The community activities and major events affecting the area are described in detail.
