The measurement of time has always been essential to human civilization – but never more than today. Without clocks we would not have the mechanised society we enjoy.
On display are clocks and other timepieces from the 19th and 20th centuries. They range in size from small trench watches worn by soldiers in World War I to the tall English grandfather clock dating to around the mid 19th century.
Changing styles and uses of timepieces are reflected in the decorative mantel clocks of the early 20th century, Moruya’s town clock keeping time for the town, and the suspended alarm clock waking us with its sharp reminder that the day must begin.
